Bad idea. Reg 278/05 violations carry Ministry of Labour stop-work orders and fines up to $1.5M; personal liability follows worker exposure. Most home insurance excludes asbestos remediation from standard coverage; if a worker is exposed during your unpermitted reno, the homeowner is on the hook.
