TV Mount with In-Wall Cable Concealment

Mounted an 85-inch OLED TV over a fireplace in Richmond Hill, ensuring all cables were hidden for a clean, minimalist aesthetic. The project included a recessed power kit installation.

Challenge

Mounting an 85-inch OLED TV requires precise stud finding over a fireplace, which often has complex framing. Integrating a recessed power kit and routing all cables within the wall cavity without damaging existing drywall or electrical presented a fine balance. Ensuring the heavy-duty tilt-mount could safely support the large display while accommodating the client's viewing angle over the mantelpiece was also critical.

Solution

We utilized a heavy-duty, low-profile Sanus VLFT7-B1 tilt mount capable of supporting up to 150 lbs, well exceeding the TV's weight. A Legrand in-wall power extension kit, compliant with NEC Article 400.8, was installed to provide safe, code-approved power behind the TV. All HDMI and optical audio cables were carefully snaked through the wall cavity, emerging discretely at the entertainment console below.

Result

The client now enjoys a sleek, cable-free entertainment space that significantly enhances their living room's modern design. The entire installation was completed efficiently in just under 4 hours, providing immediate aesthetic improvement and functional convenience. This upgrade dramatically boosted the room's visual appeal, adding an estimated 5% to the home's perceived value.
