Replaced an aging 50-gallon tank water heater with a high-efficiency Navien tankless unit, including gas line upgrade and venting modifications.
Challenge
The family of six was constantly running out of hot water with their old 50-gallon tank, and the unit was 15 years old and showing signs of corrosion at the base.
Solution
Removed the old tank, upgraded the gas line from 1/2" to 3/4" to support the higher BTU demand, installed a Navien NPE-240A tankless unit, ran new stainless steel venting through the rim joist, and added a recirculation pump for instant hot water at fixtures.
Result
Unlimited hot water for the entire family with an estimated 30% reduction in gas bills. The tankless unit freed up valuable floor space in the utility room.
