Yes — minimum 300 DPI at full installed size. A 200 sqft ceiling (≈ 240 in × 120 in) at 300 DPI is 72,000 × 36,000 pixels — roughly 2.6 GB as a raw image. We accept JPEG (highest-quality), TIFF, PSD, AI, EPS. Lower-resolution sources (300–600 pixels per inch on the original 8x10 photo) can be upscaled with AI super-resolution but we honestly disclose the result is softer than a true 300 DPI source. Customer-supplied artwork is checked at consultation — we sign off on quality before locking the print order.

Standard print is 720 DPI on the membrane — indistinguishable from the source at typical 8 ft viewing distance. Premium 1440 DPI is recommended for Renaissance frescoes and detailed photographic imagery where viewers will look closely (dining rooms, foyers, primary bedrooms). Cost premium for 1440 DPI: +$3–$5/sqft. Source artwork resolution: minimum 300 DPI at full installed size for 720 DPI print, 600 DPI source for 1440 DPI print. Anti-fade UV ink is the same on both resolutions — only the dot pitch differs.

Anti-fade UV ink is rated 7–10 years before perceptible color shift in normal indoor exposure (no direct south-window sun on the ceiling); 10+ years in shaded interiors. Direct south-facing sunlight onto the printed surface accelerates fade — for sun-exposed installs we specify the premium UV-rated ink tier (+$2/sqft) which extends the rating to 12–15 years. The most fade-prone colors are reds and yellows; the most fade-resistant are blues and earth tones. Renaissance frescoes (mostly blue / cream / earth tones) age extremely well; bright red / orange / pink imagery is more fade-sensitive. Honest disclosure at quote.

Yes — printed-translucent backlit stretch ceiling is one of our premium offerings. Custom UV-cured eco-solvent print on translucent PVC or fabric membrane, lit from above by an LED panel array. Common designs: false skylight with photographic cloud overlay (the most popular for Brock basements), stained-glass appearance, branded retail signage. Cost premium: +$5–$12/sqft over plain backlit. The visual impact of a backlit photographic ceiling is dramatically higher than either backlit-plain or printed-opaque alone — recommended for basement false-skylight and restaurant statement features.

Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Nintendo, and other licensed character imagery REQUIRES the customer to hold appropriate licensing for the use case. For non-commercial home use (a private kids' bedroom), most well-established interpretations of fair use and de minimis allowance permit a printed ceiling — but RenoHouse will not certify the legality of your specific use and recommends you verify with the rights-holder for any commercial use. We will NOT print branded imagery on a commercial ceiling (restaurant, daycare, retail) without proof of license. We WILL print original artwork inspired by but not reproducing copyrighted material — for example, an original space-theme illustration with rockets and planets is fine; a literal Buzz Lightyear reproduction is not. Small punctures (chair leg, curtain rod) are visible — printed membranes do not patch invisibly the way solid-color matte membranes do. The honest answer: print colors and the patch material rarely match exactly under close inspection, so most homeowners replace the entire panel rather than patch. Replacement print + install: $1,500–$3,500 for a typical 200 sqft room, depending on artwork (if your artwork is on file, no design re-fee; if it was a stock library design, no re-fee). Original profile is reused; only the membrane is replaced. Lifespan in normal indoor conditions is 15–25 years before any service is needed.

Printed PVC stretch ceiling is 100% waterproof — same membrane spec as plain PVC, holds up to ~100 L per square metre of water in an upstairs leak event. Print on the underside (room-facing surface) is sealed by the cured UV ink; no water absorption. Suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, basement family rooms below upstairs plumbing. Printed FABRIC stretch ceiling (Clipso, Newmat) is breathable and will NOT contain a leak — use printed PVC for any wet-overhead application.
