Transformed dated oak kitchen cabinets in an Etobicoke home into a modern, bright white shaker aesthetic through expert spray refinishing, significantly updating the space.
Challenge
The primary challenge involved thoroughly degreasing years of kitchen grime from the original oak and effectively filling the deep grain to achieve a smooth, modern shaker-like finish. Ensuring optimal adhesion and preventing bleed-through on the porous oak required meticulous surface preparation and specific primers.
Solution
Our team meticulously cleaned and degreased all surfaces, then applied multiple coats of a high-build grain filler before sanding smooth. We used Benjamin Moore Advance hybrid alkyd paint for its excellent durability and smooth, factory-like finish, sprayed off-site in a controlled environment. New modern hardware completed the transformation.
Result
The project successfully modernized the kitchen's aesthetic, increasing home appeal without the high cost of a full cabinet replacement. This approach saved the homeowner approximately 70% compared to installing new custom cabinetry, delivering a significant boost in perceived value and a brighter, more inviting culinary space.
โRenoHouse did a great job on our cabinets. The transformation from dark oak to bright white is remarkable, and the finish feels incredibly smooth and professional. I was particularly impressed with how quickly they managed to complete the onsite work after the doors were taken off, minimizing kitchen downtime.โ
