Upgraded a 60-amp fuse panel to a 200-amp breaker panel in a 1960s bungalow, including ESA inspection and permit, to support modern electrical loads and future EV charger.
Challenge
The original 60-amp fuse box was tripping constantly, could not support air conditioning, and was flagged by the home insurer as a fire risk requiring replacement within 90 days.
Solution
Coordinated with Toronto Hydro for a temporary disconnect, removed the old fuse panel, installed a new 200-amp Siemens breaker panel with whole-home surge protection, rewired critical circuits with arc-fault breakers, and pre-wired a 50-amp circuit to the garage for a future EV charger. Pulled ESA permit and passed inspection.
Result
Full electrical capacity for modern living, insurance compliance met, and the home is now EV-ready. No more blown fuses or flickering lights.
โFrom a 60-amp fire hazard to a modern 200-amp panel in two days. The insurance company was satisfied and we can finally run the AC without worry.โ
