Installed a Tesla Wall Connector (Level 2, 48 amp) in an attached garage, including a dedicated 60-amp circuit from the panel and ESA permit.
Challenge
The homeowner's electrical panel was in the basement on the opposite side of the house from the garage, requiring a 60-foot cable run through the ceiling joists and a penetration through the garage firewall.
Solution
Ran 6-gauge copper wire from the 200-amp panel through the basement ceiling joists and into the garage, maintaining proper fire separation with intumescent caulking at the firewall penetration. Mounted the Tesla Wall Connector at optimal height, installed a dedicated 60-amp breaker, and completed ESA inspection.
Result
Full overnight charging capability โ the Tesla goes from 20% to 100% in about 6 hours. Clean installation with cable concealed in surface-mounted raceway through the garage.
