RenoHouse restored the exterior wood siding of an Aurora home. This 6-day project involved meticulous preparation and professional painting to enhance curb appeal and protect the cedar.

Challenge

The primary challenge was the extensive preparation required for the aged cedar siding, which had years of peeling paint and weathered spots. Ensuring proper adhesion for the new coats on such a demanding substrate demanded careful scraping and sanding. Unpredictable spring weather also necessitated flexible scheduling to avoid rain.

Solution

Our team performed thorough scraping and power sanding of all existing cedar siding to create an optimal surface. We then applied a high-quality oil-based primer, followed by two finish coats of Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior low-lustre latex paint for superior durability and color retention, specifically using product code 629.

Result

The project significantly revitalized the home's exterior, adding substantial curb appeal and protection against the elements. The homeowner reported an estimated 10% increase in perceived property value. The durable finish is expected to last over a decade, minimizing future maintenance needs.
