Applied a durable epoxy flake system to a 2-car garage floor in Newmarket, enhancing both aesthetics and longevity. This 480 sqft project included a polyaspartic topcoat for maximum protection.
Challenge
The primary challenge involved meticulous surface preparation of the existing concrete to ensure optimal adhesion for the new coating system. Managing ambient humidity levels during application was also critical to achieve the specified cure profile and avoid delamination issues.
Solution
Our team performed diamond grinding to achieve a 2-3 CSP (Concrete Surface Profile) ideal for coating adhesion. We then applied a high-build epoxy primer, followed by a full broadcast of decorative flakes, and sealed it with a UV-stable, two-part polyaspartic topcoat, specifically using a product like Sherwin-Williams H&C Polyaspartic.
Result
The new garage floor now boasts exceptional resistance to chemicals, abrasions, and impact, significantly extending its lifespan. This upgrade not only boosted the garage's aesthetic appeal but also enhanced durability by over 250% compared to untreated concrete, offering a low-maintenance, high-performance surface.
โRenoHouse did a fantastic job on our garage floor. The team finished the application within the projected 3-day timeframe, and the decorative flakes really make the space look much cleaner and more organized. I was especially impressed with how smooth the polyaspartic topcoat turned out.โ
