Sanded and refinished 1,200 sq ft of original 1920s red oak hardwood floors in a Beaches neighbourhood home, restoring century-old character.
Challenge
The original hardwood had deep scratches, pet stains, and areas of worn-through finish, but the homeowner wanted to preserve the historic character rather than replace with new flooring.
Solution
Used a dustless sanding system for three passes (40, 80, 120 grit), treated pet stain areas with oxalic acid, filled gaps with tinted wood filler matching the natural oak, and applied three coats of oil-modified polyurethane in satin finish for a warm, traditional look.
Result
The century-old floors were restored to their original beauty with visible grain detail and warm amber tone. The dustless system meant virtually no cleanup for the homeowner.
โOur 100-year-old floors look absolutely stunning. They brought out the character we fell in love with when we bought the house.โ
