Installed a 60sqm Unilock Brussels Block paver driveway in Markham, featuring a custom stamped concrete border and integrated stormwater management for enhanced curb appeal and functionality.
Challenge
The primary challenge involved designing an effective rainwater management system on a sloped property to prevent pooling near the garage and ensure proper drainage. Integrating the paver system with a custom stamped concrete border also required meticulous planning to achieve a seamless aesthetic and structural integrity.
Solution
We utilized Unilock Brussels Block pavers for their durability and classic appeal, laid on a compacted granular base to CSA A23.1-14 standards. A custom stamped concrete border, featuring a natural stone pattern, was poured with integrated control joints. A subsurface swale and permeable aggregate base were engineered to direct rainwater efficiently.
Result
The project was completed within the 6-day timeframe, significantly enhancing the home's curb appeal and property value. The new driveway effectively manages rainwater, eliminating previous drainage issues and adding substantial functional outdoor space. Property valuation estimates increased by approximately $15,000.
โThe driveway looks robust, and the stamped border is a nice touch. While the initial timeline was met, one small area of the stamped concrete wasn't quite as dark as the rest, though it's hardly noticeable. The crew handled the rain management very well; we haven't seen any puddles since.โ
