Stamped Concrete Driveway

RenoHouse replaced a cracked asphalt driveway in Vaughan with a new 30sqm stamped concrete surface, featuring an ashlar slate pattern and integral colour for enhanced curb appeal and durability.

Challenge

The primary challenge involved meticulously excavating the existing degraded asphalt without disturbing adjacent landscaping, followed by establishing a perfectly graded sub-base. Maintaining consistent concrete slump for optimal stamp impression across the 30sqm area during a variable weather window required precise scheduling and agile adaptation.

Solution

We utilized a 32 MPa concrete mix, reinforced with welded wire mesh, poured over a compacted granular A base meeting CSA A23.1-14 standards. An integral colour from Butterfield Color was mixed directly into the concrete, ensuring deep, lasting pigment. The ashlar slate pattern was achieved using high-quality stamping mats, followed by a durable acrylic sealer for protection against the elements.

Result

The new driveway transformed the home's curb appeal and offers superior durability compared to asphalt, significantly reducing future maintenance costs. The project was completed within the 5-day schedule, enhancing the property's aesthetic value and increasing its market appeal by an estimated $8,000.
