Installation of electric heated luxury vinyl plank flooring in a downtown Toronto condo unit. Enhanced comfort and modern aesthetics were key objectives for this 3-day project.
Challenge
Navigating the strict building regulations and securing condo board approval for flooring modifications was a primary hurdle. Ensuring the subfloor was perfectly level and prepped to properly integrate the electric heat mat without compromising its efficiency or the LVP integrity also required meticulous planning.
Solution
We utilized a Schluter DITRA-HEAT electric floor warming system for its reliability and low profile, paired with high-quality COREtec Plus LVP. The installation adhered strictly to CSA C22.1 Canadian Electrical Code for in-floor heating, ensuring safety and efficiency during the specialized mortar application and LVP lay.
Result
The project was completed on schedule within 3 days, significantly enhancing the condo's comfort and appeal. The new heated flooring added tangible value and luxurious warmth, with the client reporting a 7-degree increase in perceived ambient temperature.
โThe heated flooring is mostly great, though the installation did take the full three days, which felt a bit long for one room. I appreciate that RenoHouse managed all the condo board paperwork; that was a huge relief and saved us a lot of hassle. The Schluter system feels good underfoot.โ
